Joshua Sidney "Josh" Boone (born April 5, 1979) is an American screenwriter and film director. He directed and wrote his own first film, ''Stuck in Love'' and he is perhaps best known for directing the film ''The Fault in Our Stars'', based on John Green's break-out novel. ==Early Life and Career==
Josh Boone was born on April 5, 1979 in Virginia Beach, Virginia as the second and youngest child of two sons born to Michael Patrick Boone, a welder and technician and Alexandra "Alex" Boone (Simpson), a nurse who previously worked as a factory worker. The family moved to Boston when Boone was five in 1984, only to relocate back to Virginia Beach when Boone was eight in 1987. From that point on, from age eight to eighteen, Boone would spend the remainder of his childhood in Virginia Beach. He attended and graduated from Frank W. Cox High School in Virginia Beach in the Class of 1997, where he wrote for the school newspaper, was a star on the track team, and directed his first film at 16 to which afterward, after graduating, he attended the University of Ohio (or Ohio University) in Athens, Ohio where he majored in film production and minored in cinematography before graduating in the class of 2001 at age 22. After graduating Ohio University, he moved to Canada where he lived for three years, from 2001 to 2004, where he directed several amateur films and B-movies years before directing his first American feature film.
